Leap and Learn FAQ's

Do I need extended day?

Each kiddo is different, but with the high energy of this program, we recommend that 3 year olds choose to do only the 9:00 to 12:30 Traditional Session. This gives them plenty of time to develop basic letter and number recognition skills, listening discipline, and the social interaction that kiddos need at this age. Kiddos who are currently 4 or 5 years old can choose to stay for the Extended Day Session, with the additional hours of 12:30 to 2:00. This time is used to focus specifically on skills needed for Kindergarten. They will be engaged in a more traditional and direct structured learning environment for reading, writing, math, and science skills. The Extended Day Session will allow your kiddo to get adjutsed to the longer days and fundamental building blocks of Kindergarten.

What is the cost of the tuition and fees?

The cost of the Traditional Session, which is 9:00 to 12:30 on Tuesday and Thursday, is $175 a month. It is due on the first of each of the 10 months. What will the school calendar be?

We will be following the Oldham County school schedule for major holidays, breaks, and inclement weather closings. If we miss more than 4 days due to inclement weather, we will make them up throughout the remainder of the school year. Tuition will not be pro-rated due to absences, and there will be no make-up days. Both the Traditional Session and the Extended Day Session will run from August 20, 2019 to May 14, 2020. You will choose which session is best for your student. We require your commitment for the full year. Kiddos age 3 are best suited for the Tranditional Session. Once the child turns 4, we recommend that they progress to the Extended Day Session. Admission of a 3 year old to the Extended Day Session does require a meeting with Ms Suzanne directly, for a discussion of expectations. Orientation and supplies drop off August 15, 10 to 11:30 First Day August 20 Fall Break October 21 - 25 Winter Break December 23 - January 3 Spring Break March 30 to April 3 Last Day of School May 14

What are some examples of Movement Based Learning?

Movement Based Learning is anything and everything that gets the body moving and the brain ticking. There will be a lot of running, building, painting, rolling, and laughing. There will be no desks because there won't be time to sit at them. Kiddos will only be at the table for art projects and when they make a healthy snack together. Here are some simple, very straight-forward, examples: Number Recognition * Gather all the cones in the gym and put them in numerical order * Find the cone in the gym that has the number 5 on it * Run to the line that has the number 2 on it * Bear crawl to the number that comes after 6 * Get into a group of 3 people Pattern Practice * Make your own pattern using any equipment in the gym * Help Ms. Ashley put the entire class in a pattern * Walk around and see if you can find a pattern in the room Letters and Words * Go on a letter hunt, can you find every letter in the alphabet? * Use the sight word index cards to make your own sentence * Act like an animal that starts with the letter A

If you are willing to add your name to the Parent Volunteer List, let Suzanne and Trevor Williams know as soon as possible, so they can get background checks up and running.
